On September 2, 2024, the event “Empower the Future: Strategic & Sustainable Leadership” took place and was a real highlight for all participants. We would like to thank all panelists and guests who made the event a complete success.
The keynote and the subsequent panel discussion offered deep insights into modern leadership, sustainability and the challenges of the working world of tomorrow. Jörg Ehmer, CEO of Burger King Germany, in particular, spoke openly about how he wants to break new ground in his new role as CEO in the system catering industry, an industry known for leadership challenges. His goal is to establish leadership with more awareness of values and to integrate socio-political tensions into the company's own culture. An exciting topic that also raised many questions from participants about the role of leadership in an increasingly complex social environment.
Beate Erbse, Head of People & Performance at Nufarm, shared her most important leadership principles that distinguish true leaders from managers. Her insight into a formative leadership experience was particularly inspiring and provided a tangible approach to how flexibility and change can be anchored in companies. One question that moved many participants: How can managers best prepare their team for flexible work?
Marc Sasserath, founder and CEO of Sasserath 1871, spoke about the prerequisites that are necessary for change and modern leadership to be possible. His thoughts on Secure Based Leadership and how this approach is beneficial not only for managers but for entire teams were particularly impressive.
Dr. Gerlind Wisskirchen, partner at CMS, also opened an exciting discussion about the future of work and the growing importance of data-driven decisions, especially when it comes to bonuses and salary negotiations. Particularly noteworthy is the realization that younger generations increasingly want to be led in an autocratic worldview - an issue that will continue to challenge many companies.
Dr. Frederike Volkmann, partner at CMS, devoted her keynote speech to the topics of financing female founders and overcoming the gender pay gap. She emphasized that it is not just about financial support, but also about structural changes that enable women to establish themselves in leadership roles in the long term. Her thoughts on the design of fair compensation systems and how companies can tackle this challenge in order to combat gender inequality in the area of pay were particularly impressive.
The questions in the panel discussion addressed the challenges that many managers are currently facing and provided concrete strategies on how modern managers can align their actions with the future. The event ended with interactive networking sessions that deepened the dialogue between managers and participants and enabled exciting new contacts.
We look forward to pursuing the ideas born at this event and actively shaping the future of leadership.
